RABsport Concludes 2025 C1 Endurance Series at Donington with Strong Performances and Debutants
The 2025 C1 Endurance Series concluded at Donington Park National Circuit, where RABsport Racing ran two entries — the CAT Driver Training (CAT DT) car and car 432 — in tricky weather conditions and the series’ first-ever Pro and Am class format.
Pro & Am Classes Debut
For the first time, the C1 Endurance Series introduced Pro and Amateur classes, giving teams and drivers new opportunities to compete within their experience levels. The new structure added an extra strategic layer to the single 3-hour race, with class battles alongside overall positions.
CAT DT Challenged by Safety Car
The CAT DT car, driven by Colin and Mark Hoad, was running strongly and even pushing for the lead. At one point, the team attempted a pit stop while in P2 overall, aiming to gain track position. Unfortunately, a safety car was deployed at the exact moment, preventing the car from coming into the pits.
This forced CAT DT to stay out on track, losing the strategic advantage and ultimately dropping back in positions. Despite this setback, the car finished P5 overall, showcasing resilience, pace, and excellent race management in the season finale.
Debut Weekend for Car 432
RABsport’s car 432 featured first-time race drivers Jonathan Fowler and Johnny Lau, who adapted impressively to the endurance format and challenging Donington weather. Their pit stops were carefully timed for strategy rather than tyre changes, and they finished P13 overall — a solid result for their first-ever race weekend, closing the official series with valuable experience.
Strategy Over Tyres
The 3-hour race required no tyre changes; the focus was entirely on strategic calls for when to pit. Both RABsport entries maximised track time and race strategy, making the most of every opportunity despite the safety car disrupting CAT DT’s potential podium push.
Learning and Growing
Donington’s National Circuit is a technical layout that becomes even more demanding under rain and mixed conditions. Both driver lineups and the crew demonstrated professionalism and adaptability throughout the race, finishing the 2025 C1 Endurance Series on a strong note.
Team Principal Richard Barnard said:
“Donington was a fitting finale. Colin and Mark drove brilliantly in CAT DT despite the safety car challenge, and Jonathan and Johnny showed great maturity in their first race weekend with car 432. We’re proud of the team’s effort and performance under tough conditions.”
